Singapore's ambitious I.T. masterplan

Singapore Government unveiled its multi-billion dollar IT masterplan and offering a free broadband internet connection.

According to the report, people will enjoy free high-speed internet connection in certain public places such as Orchard Road in December of this year and will be extended islandwide by September 2007. The free connection will last for a year, after that, users have to pay certain fees that are not yet specified.

With its I.T. masterplan, the government targets more infocomm companies to be established, help poor home users to go online and at the same time to boost tourism in the country.

This move also helps Singapore to catch up with rival countries such as Korea, China and India. One of contributor from Singapore Science Center wants the cost of broadband connection to be the lowest in the world to encourage more people to go online. Users will enjoy high internet bandwidth of over 1Gbps, which is 30 times much faster than the current rate right now.

The masterplan expects to create 80,000 new jobs and raise infocomm export revenue to S$60 billion by 2015.

When will Philippines follow the path?

This made me curious about these awards, so I decided to search a story about it through Google and found a weblog from a person who actually received the fax as well. Check out this link. You need to read it for your awareness.

Ovislink vs. Airlive

There is confusion between Ovislink and Airlive lately since Ovislink started to use "Airlive" name to all its products instead of Ovislink. Ovislink and Airlive are actually one. Ovislink is the company who create "Airlive" brand.

"Airlive" brand was first introduced for Ovislink wireless product line. Afterward, in 2005, it was being used for all product lines and all the new box comes with "Airlive" brand, as well as the website with name of www.airlive.com.
